Stewart's Tubing is a family owned and operated business and is the original tubing destination in New Brunswick.
Timmy and Linda Stewart, the husband and wife team behind "Stewart's Tubing", had never intended on having a tubing rental business, it was all quite accidental and serendipitous.
In the early 90's, they opened a family-run canteen in their backyard, known locally as one of the best places around to grab some homemade fish and chips. Their middle daughter, Tara was 14 at the time and working for their nephew Carl. He had an fishing outfitting shop that rented canoes and had a few tubes for rent as well. He gave those few tubes to the entrepreneurial 14 year old girl, and the rest is history.
The tubes were eventually noticed by curious customers inquiring about their intended use, and soon enough people were coming from far and wide to rent them. The couple of tubes they had grew to 12 in 1994. Word spread about the Stewart's, their friendly natures, the beautiful river and the tubes. Now, that meek little pile of 12 tubes has grown into a formidable mountain. Amazingly, the entire growth of the business has been spread mainly by word-of-mouth. Seventeen years later, it still has the same feel as the little family-run Stewart's Tubing, except the family of five has grown into a large staff consisting of extended family and close family friends.
Never in a million years could Timmy and Linda Stewart and their three daughters anticipate that they would eventually be greeting people from all over the world at their doorstep, and to be sharing their love of the Little South West River with them. But they are sure happy and grateful to be able to do so...
Interesting Facts:
The beach where we launch tubers into the river is on the site where our ancestors, the first Stewart's in the area, had settled and built a homestead. Just below that is the first set of rapids on the tube run, and have been known for generations as 'The Stewart Rips'.
